Detachment is the foot of meditation, it is taught,

attachment to food and wealth disappears.
TSEN DIR DÖ TAK CHÖ PAY GOM CHEN LA
To the meditator who gives up ties to this life,
NYE KUR ZHEN PA ME PAR JIN GYI LOB
grant your blessing that attachment to ownership and honour cease.
           
MÖ GÖ GOM GYI GO WOR SUNG PA ZHIN
Devotion is the head of meditation, it is taught,

MEN NGAK TERGO JÉ PAY LAMA LA

the lama opens the door to the profound oral teachings.
GYÜN DU SO WA DEB PAY GOM CHEN LA
to the meditator who always turns to them,
CHÖ MIN MÖ GÜ KYÉ WAR JIN GYI LOB

 grant your blessing that uncontrived devotion be born within.
           
YENG MÉ GOM GYI NGÖ ZHIR SUNG PA ZHIN
Unwavering attention is the body of meditation, it is taught.
GANG SHAR TOK PAY NGO WO SO MA DÉ
Whatever arises, is the fresh nature of thought.
MA CHÖ DÉ KAR JOK PAY GOM CHEN LA
To the meditator who rests there in naturalness,
GOM JA LO DANG DRAL WAR JIN GYI LOB
 grant your blessings that meditation is free from intellectualisation.
           
NAM TOK NGOWO CHÖ KUR SUNG PA ZHIN
The essence  of thoughts is Dharmakaya, it is taught,
CHI YANG MA YIN CHIR YANG CHAR WA LA
they are nothing whatsoever and yet they arise.
MA GAK ROLPAR CHAR WAY GOM CHEN LA
To the meditator who sees the unobstructed play of the mind,
KHOR DÉ JER MÉ TOK PAR JIN GYI LOB
grant your blessing that the inseparability of Samsara and Nirvana be realised.       
 
KYÉ WA KÜN TU YANG DAK LAMA DANG
Through all my births, may I not be separated                      
DRAL MÉ CHÖ KYI PA LA LONG CHÖ CHING
from the perfect Lama, and so enjoy the glory of the Dharma.
SA DANG LAM GYI YON TEN RAP DZOK NÉ
May I completely accomplish the qualities of the path and stages,
DORJÉ CHANG GI GO PHANG NYUR TOP SHOK  [repeat last line]

and quickly attain the state of Vajradhara.
 
Refuge and Bodhicitta
SONG JEH CHEU DONG TSHO CHI CHOK NAM LA.  JONG CHUB BAR DU DAW NI CHAP SU CHI.
Until enlightenment I go for refuge in the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.
DAW GI JIN SO JI PAY SEU NAM CHI.  DRO LA PHEN CHIR SONG JEH DRUP PAR SHOK.
May the merit of my generosity and other merits be for the benefit of all beings,  that they may attain Buddhahood.

The invocation
DAW SO KHAH CHAP SEM CHEN JI.  CHI TSUK PEH KAR DA WAY TENG.
Above the heads of infinite sentient beings, and above mine, appear a white lotus and moon disc.
 
HRI LEH PHA CHOK CHEN REH ZI.  KAR SAL EU ZER NGA DEN TRO.
From the syllable HRI  Chenrezi appears, clear, white, and radiating the five colours.
DZEH DZUM THU JEI CHEN JI ZI.  CHAK SHI DONG PO THAL JAR DZEH
Smiling and beautiful, he gazes with compassion.  His first pair of hands are held together
OK NYI SHEL TRENG PEH KAR NAM.  DAR DONG RIN CHEN JEN JI TREH.
in prayer, in the other pair he holds a crystal rosary and white lotus.
RI DAW PAK PAY TEU YOK SEUL.  EU PAW MEH PAY UR JEN CHEN.
He is adorned with silks and jewels; a deer skin is over his shoulder.
SHAP NYI DOR JEI CHIL TRUNG SHUK.  DRI MEH DA WA JAP TEN PA.
Amitabha adorns his head.  He sits in the lotus position.
CHAP NEH KUN DU NGO WOR JUR.
A pure moon supports his back.  He is the essence of all refuges.
 
JO WO CHEUN JI MA GEU KUN DOK KAR. DZOK SONG JEH CHI U LA JEN.
Homage to Chenrezi who looks with compassion on all beings:  the noble one,
THU JEI CHEN JI DRO LA ZIK.  CHEN REH ZI LA CHAK TSHAL LO.
whose body is white, not clothed with faults but adorned with a perfected Buddha.

The seven-branch prayer
 
            PHA PA CHEN REH ZI WONG DONG.  CHOK CHU SU SUM SHUK PA YI.
Completely and sincerely I pay homage to noble Chenrezi, and all the
JAL WA SEH CHEH THAM CHEH LA.  KUN NEH DONG WEH CHAK TSHAL LO.
Buddhas and Bodhisattvas dwelling in the ten directions and the three times.
ME TOK DUK PEU MAR ME DRI.  SHAL ZEH REUL MO LA SOK PA.
I offer flowers, incense, lamps, perfume, food, music and so forth, actually set out or
NGEU JOR YI CHI TRUL NEH BUL.  PHA PAY TSHOK CHI SHE SU SEUL.
visualised by my mind.  I confess all negative actions I have committed from beginningless
THOK MA ME NEH DA TAY BAR.  MI GE CHU DONG TSHOM ME NGA
time until now, with my mind overpowered by defilements: 
SEM NI NGEUN MONG WONG JUR PEH.   DIK PA THAM CHEH SHAK PAR JI.
the ten unvirtuous acts and the five defilements.
 
NYEN THEU RONG JAL JONG CHUB SEM.  SO SO CHE WO LA SO PEH.
I rejoice at the merit of the virtue accumulated in the three times by Shravakas,
DU SUM GE WA CHI SA PAY.  SEU NAM LA NI DAW YI RONG.
Pratyekabuddhas, ordinary beings and others.
SEM CHEN NAM CHI SAM PA DONG.  LO YI JE DRAK CHI TA WAR.
Turn, I pray, the Wheels of the Dharma of the Ordinary, Great and Small Vehicles,
CHE CHUNG THUN MONG THEK PA YI. CHEU CHI KHOR LO KOR DU SEUL.
according to the different intellects and motives of beings.
KHOR WA JI SI MA TONG PAR.  NYA NGEN MIN DAH THU JE YI.
Look, I pray, with compassion on beings sunk in the ocean of suffering,
DUK NGAL JAN TSHOR JING WA YI.  SEM CHEN NAM LA ZI SU SEUL.
and while Samsara is not empty, do not pass into Nirvana.
DAW GI SEU NAM CHI SA PA.  THAM CHEH JONG CHUP JUR JUR NEH.
May whatever merit I have accumulated become a cause of enlightenment for all:
RING POR MI THOK DRO WA YI.  DREN PAY PAL DU DAW JUR CHIK.
May I have the glory of becoming a leader of beings, long and unhindered.
 
Chenrezi prayer
SEUL WA DEP SO LA MA CHEN REH ZI.  SEUL WA DEP SO YI DAM CHEN REH ZI.
I pray to the lama Chenrezi, I pray to the yidam Chenrezi,
SEUL WA DEP SO PHA CHOK CHENREZI.  SEUL WA DEP SO CHAP GEUN CHEN REH ZI.
I pray to the noble and supreme Chenrezi.  I pray to the refuge and protector Chenrezi.
SEUL WA DEP SO JAM GEUN CHEN REH ZI.  THU JE ZUNG SHI JAL WA THU JE CHEN.
I pray to the lord of love Chenrezi:  Compassionate Buddha, hold me in your compassion.
THA MEH KHOR WA DRONG MEH CHAM JUR CHING.  ZEU MEH DUK NGAL NYONG WAY DRO WA LA. 
You are the only refuge to beings who from beginningless time are wandering in Samsara,
GEUN PO CHEH LEH CHAP SHEN MA CHI SO.  NAM CHEN SONG JEH TOP PAR JIN JI LOP.
experiencing unendurable suffering.  By your blessing may they achieve omniscient Buddhahood.
 
 
THOK MEH DU NEH LEH NGEN SA PAY THU.
From the power of bad karma accumulated from beginningless time,
SHE DONG WONG GI NYAL WAR CHEH JUR TE.
beings experience, as a result of the power of hatred
TSHA DRONG DUK NGAL NYONG WAY SEM CHEN NAM.
the suffering of heat and cold: being born in the hells.
LHA CHOK CHE CHI DRUNG DU CHE WAR SHO.
Supreme deity, may they be born in your presence.
 
OM MANI PADME HUM
 
THOK MEH DU NEH LEH NGEN SA PAY THU.
From the power of bad karma accumulated from beginningless time,
SER NAY WONG GI YI DAK NEH SU CHEH.
beings experience, as a result of the power of miserliness
 
TREH KOM DUK NGAL NYONG WAY SEM CHEN NAM.
the suffering of hunger and thirst:  being born as a hungry ghost.
SHING CHOK PO TA LA RU CHE WAR SHO.
May they be born in Potala, the supreme realm.
 
OM MANI PADME HUM
 
THOK MEH DU NEH LEH NGEN SA PAY THU.
From the power of bad karma accumulated from beginningless time,
TI MUK WONG GI DUN DROR CHEH JUR TE.
beings experience, as a result of the power of ignorance
LEN KUK DUK NGAL NYONG WAY SEM CHEN NAM.
the suffering of stupidity:  being born as an animal.
GEUN PO CHEH CHI DRUNG DU CHE WAR SHO
Protector, may they be born in your presence.
 
OM MANI PADME HUM
 
THOK MEH DU NEH LEH NGEN SA PAY THU.
From the power of bad karma accumulated from beginningless time,
DEU CHAK WONG GI MI YI NEH SU CHEH.
beings experience, as a result of the power of desire and excessive activity
DREL PHONG DUK NGAL NYONG WAY SEM CHEN NAM.
the suffering of constant frustration: being born as a human being.
SHING CHOK DE WA CHEN DU CHE WAR SHOK.
May they be born in Dewachen, the supreme realm.
 
OM MA NI PE ME HUM
 
THOK MEH DU NEH LEH NGEN SA PAY THU.
From the power of bad karma accumulated from beginningless time,
TRA DOK WONG GI LHA MIN NEH SU CHEH.
beings experience, as a result of the power of jealousy
THAP TSEU DUK NGAL NYONG WAY SEM CHEN NAM.
the suffering of dispute and quarrel: being born a jealous god
PO TA LA YI SHIN DU CHE WAR SHO.
May they be born in the realm of Potala.
 
OM MANI PADME HUM.
 
THOK MEH DU NEH LEH NGEN SA PAY THU.
From the power of bad karma accumulated from beginningless time,
NGA JAL WONG GI LHA YI NEH SU CHEH.
beings experience, as a result of the power of pride
PHO TUNG DUK NGAL NYONG WAY SEM CHEN NAM.
the suffering of decline and fall: being born a god.
PO TA LA YI SHIN DU CHE WAR SHO.
May they be born in the realm of Potala.
 
OM MANI PADME HUM
 
DAW NI CHE SHING CHE WA THAM CHEH DU
May I be like Chenrezi in all my existences.
CHEN REH ZI DONG DZEH PA TSHUNG PA YI.
May all beings be liberated from impure realms,
MA DAK SHING GI DRO NAM DREUL WA DONG.
and may the sound of the six syllables
SUNG CHOK YI DRUK CHOK CHUR JEH PAR SHO.
spread through the ten directions.
PHA CHOK CHEH LA SEUL WA TAP PAY THU.
By the power of this prayer to you, supreme noble one,
DAW GI DUL JAR JUR PAY DRO WA NAM.
may all beings trained by me have a
LEH DREH LHUR LEN GE WAY LEH LA TSEUN
sympathetic understanding of cause and effect, and diligently act with virtue.
DRO WAY DEUN DU CHEU DONG DEN PAR SHO
May I possess the Dharma for the benefit of beings.
 
DE TAR TSE CHI SEUL TAP PEH.
Having prayed like this, one-pointedly,
PHA PAY KU LEH EU ZEU TREU.
light radiates from the Noble One,
MA DAK LEH NONG TRUL SHEH JONG.
purifying the illusory appearance of impure action.
CHI NEU DE WA CHEN JI SHING
The world becomes Dewachen.
NONG CHU CHEN DROI LU NGAW SEM.
The body, speech and mind of all beings become the
CHEN REH ZI WONG KU SUNG THUK.
body, speech and mind of Chenrezi.
NONG DRAK RIK TONG YER MEH JUR.
Appearance, sound and awareness are inseparable from emptiness.
 
            OM MA NI PADME  HUM HRI      (repeat many times)

DAW SHEN LU NONG PHA PAY KU.  DRA DRAK YI GE DRUK PAY YONG
My body, and that of others, appear as the Body of the Noble One, all sound as the Sound
DREN TOK YE SHE CHEN POI LONG.
of his Mantra, all mental activity as the vast expanse of awareness....
 
Dedication of merit
GE WA DI YI NYUR DU DAW.  CHEN REH ZI WONG DRUP JUR NEH.
By this virtue, through my quickly realising Chenrezi, may all beings
DRO WA CHI CHONG MA LU PA.  DE YI SA LA GEU PAR SHOK.
not one excluded, attain that same state.

Marvellous Buddha of Infinite Light  [Amitabha]
YEH SU JO WO THUK JE CHEN PO DONG
Lord of Great Compassion [Chenrezi] on his right
YEUN DU SEM PA THU CHEN THOP NAM LA
Bodhisattva of Great Power [Vajrapani] on his left,
SONG JEH JONG SEM PAW MEH KHOR JI KOR
surrounded by infinite Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
DE CHI NGO TSHAR PAW TU MEH PA YI
Joy and happiness without limit
DE WA CHEN SHEH JA WAY SHING KHAM DER
is the realm of Dewachen.
DAW NI DI NEH TSHE PHEU JUR MA THAK
Immediately I die, may I be born there,
CHE WA SHEN JI BAR MA CHEU PA RU
and nowhere else.   Having been born there
DE RU CHE NEH NONG THAY SHAL THONG SHOK
may I see the face of Amitabha.
DE KEH DAW GI MEUN LAM TAP PA DI
By the blessing of all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas
CHOK CHUI SONG JEH JONG SEM THAM CHE CHI
of the ten directions may this prayer of aspiration
GEK MEH DRUP PAR JIN JI LAP TU SEUL
that I recite be accomplished without obstruction.
TÉ YA TA  PEN TSA DRI YA   AH WA BO DHA NA YÉ SO HA

DI TAR GOM DEH JI PAY SEU NAM CHI.  DAW DONG DAW LA DREL THOK DRO WA KUN.
By the merit of this meditation and recitation, may I and all beings connected with me,
MI TSANG LUN BI BOR WA JUR MA THAK. DE WA CHEN DU DZU TE CHE WAR SHOK. 
at death be miraculously born in Dewachen.    As soon as I am born there, and having
CHE MA THAK TU SA CHU RAP DREU NEH. TRUL PEH CHOK CHUR SHEN DEUN JEH PAR SHOK.                                                                  
reached the tenth level, may I emanate in all the ten directions, for the benefit of others.
          
THE FOUR IMMEASURABLES (love, compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity):
 
May all sentient beings have happiness and the causes of happiness.
May all sentient beings be apart from sorrow and the causes of sorrow.
May all sentient beings who have the happiness of not suffering, not lose this.
May all sentient beings be apart from attachment and hatred for friends and enemies, and remain in the great equanimity.
